General Information:
Representing the representative of an estate or trust

Our attorneys assist the personal representative or current trustee of an estate. Because we have years of experience working with the Probate Code and in trust law matters, clients feel confident that we will save the estate time and money. We advise clients about matters such as:

  • Probating the will with the Probate court
  • The business of the estate, focusing on inventories, appraisals, banking matters, and creditor claims;
  • Liquidating the estate assets.

In addition to providing advice and counsel on these matters, our attorneys assist trustees or executors with estate and trust administration tasks such as:

  • Transferring the assets to beneficiaries;
  • Preparing the income tax returns (IRS Forms 1040/1041 and state forms) and estate tax returns (IRS Form 706 and state forms);
  • Conducting trust administration tasks, such as dividing the trust into separate sub-trusts or interpreting the duties and liabilities of the trustee;
  • Helping trustees and executors navigate this complex area so that they can carry out their duties during this confusing and difficult time.
Acting as executor for families who live far from the East Valley

Our lawyers also act as executors or trustees for out-of-state families who cannot readily travel to Arizona. In such cases, we perform all the duties of an executor, personal representative, or trustee selling real estate and other assets, probating the will, conducting banking matters, and paying the debts of the estate. Contact our Mesa, Arizona, law firm, Knollmiller & Arenofsky, LLP, to learn how we can assist with estate, probate, and trust administration.
